Gas mileage?

is there anything cheap i can do to my 2000 Grand Am SE to give it better gas mileage? Mine is horrible... almost 200 miles to a tank. Thanks.|||This question gets asked in here a lot!

Aside from the mileage on the car already, I must direct you back to regular maintenance. Spark plugs, plug wires, a clean air filter and fuel filter.

Tire pressure is most often overlooked. A low tire (3-5 PSI) could add about 20% rolling resistance to a car. The sticker inside the driver's door should tell you what pressure you need to keep in them.

Another common problem is the air filter. A dirty one uses more fuel. Check your owners manual for the maintenance schedule and follow it.

If you do not have an Owner's Manual, check out eBay for one, or a local salvage yard. You are bound to find one for cheap since there are plenty of those cars out there.|||first off how many miles do you have on the clock?|||tune up clean the injectors run the tire psi.harder keep your foot out of the throttle no hot roding or raceing|||inflate your tires to the proper pressure, and drive as if there was an egg on the accelerator that you don't want to break. Coast whenever possible. Keep the windows up to avoid drag, the A/C in hot weather will use some of the engine's power, but less than having the windows down. Use cruise control when you can to keep speed constant. Below 70 if possible, since the best speed for fuel mileage is around 60. Change the oil at the proper interval, ditto the air filter. Keep the car clean and waxed to cut air drag.
