How to get better gas Mileage in a 97 Ford Explorer EB?

I'm trying to get good gas mileage in my wifes car. She wont let me sell it cause she has to have a big truck for some reasone so i thout i try this.|||Tune,Tune,Tune

Keep it running right. Drive it nice, very nice, Keep the tires inflated to the pressure on the sticker on the b-pillar.(NOT OVERINFLATED!!)

Avoid exessive idling.

However, the exploder never got really good milage.

The 4.0 v6 was underpowered and got poor milage.

The 4.0 SOHC v6 was better, but not great.

The v-8 actually got better milage than the

cam in block v-6|||Make sure you are taking care preventive maintenance, you would be surprised how much this will effect your gas mileage...(fuel filter, air filter, oil changes, plugs and wires etc..)

Also, for every i believe 100 pounds removed from a car you gain 4hp and you also increase gas mileage drastically, I would recommend getting rid of things she doesn't need.

Redlining a car and driving over 60mph increase fuel consumption alot as well, tell her to let the engine shift under 3K RPM's and pretend theres an egg between her foot an the peddle, use cruise control, and don't speed.|||man up and sell it. its a v8 what do you expect. tune up. thats all you can do.|||Reduce the weight of the truck by getting rid of any extra cargo. Keep the tires inflated. Drive slower than 65.|||over fill the tires by about 8 pounds and run a K@N air filter, that otta help
