Generally speaking, car manufacturers tune the shift points in automatic transmissions for optimal efficiency / mileage. Switching to manual will invariably decrease your MPG. Why? Because you will shift late at higher rpm or lower making the engine work harder. Not saying you are a bad driver but the M setting is for performance or special circumstances or driving conditions where you don't want the transmission thinking for you. The best advice I can give is to pay attention to how you are driving, eliminate the quick starts, and maintain your car as recommended in the manual.
Keep your tires inflated, keep in the low RPMs in gears, such as the 1000s. Also supercharge your car if you can afford it and get a better exhaust upgrade. Keep intake restrictions low to the engine, and use high grade oil.How do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
Keep tires fully inflated.. 3 or 4 lbs about recommended... From all stops, slowly gain speed and eliminate the gunning from a stop position. Check air filter making sure to keep it clean.

Call a breakdown service %26amp; get them to tow you??
buy every gadget on the market (only to keep the economy going) then take the bus...at least you dident ask for a free down load, thats what ,most yahoos do,, ever think about tuning it up???
get a k%26amp;N air filter, that should increase your gas mileage by atgleast 2-4 miles per gallon, and switch to different oil, like full synthetic, for another 204 miles per gallon increase.
Push it
