Gas Mileage?

Why does it seem like I get better gas mileage when I fill my tank all of the way up rather than just putting in a half tank. It seems that a full tank is more weight and therefore use more fuel? Am I just imagining this???Gas Mileage?
Its because you actually have more gas in your tank when its completely full than the dial on your dash will register. You have to drive for 10-30 miles before you've actually used enough gas for the dial to start moving down at all, thus giving the illusion that you're using less gas.
Less loss due to condensation?Gas Mileage?
um... best i cna say is cars are imperfect like everything else, if its only off by a few miles each time don't worry bout it. if it's off by alot more you might wanna get it looked at.

Most gas tank guages are goofy in the sense that the 1st half of the tank, you will get more miles, the 2nd half of the tank you will get considerably less.



That is due to the ratio. typical cars say they have a half tank when there is actually less, it's closer to 1/3rd



Best thing to do is calculate the gallons you put in vs your miles on the car. I fill at 1/2 tank with a 27 gallon tank, at the 1./2 way point, i have 7 gallons left. the 1st 20 are full to 1/2 mark. half to empty its 7

you are dreaming sunshine more fuel more milage and half tank less milage better performance requires more fuel
when u fill the tank it may pour from the neck of tank where u inter gas nozzle into ur tank,so don't fill it compeletly,and dont turn in high speed because it may come out of the tank easily
It's possible the extra weight from half a tank of gasoline might influence gas mileage, but it's much more likely other driving habits are making the difference. Additionally, you may wish to question the method you are using to determine your mileage.



Unless you do something like this guy, who wrote this article hooked up a computer to his Jeep, it'll be difficult for you to tell exactly what affects your mileage by how much:
