What kind of gas mileage can I expect from a 1982 Honda CM450A Hondamatic?

It's in great condition and I'm getting a great price from my grandpa, but can I still expect the gas mileage of the same bike in manual form? I might be driving from Milwaukee to Minneapolis, so that's just one reason for why I'm curious.

It's an automatic with a low/high speed selection.|||Its mileage will be lower than the five-speed model, for two reasons:

-High will be lower than 5th on the standard model, so you will be revving the motor more;

-There is some power loss and slippage in the transmission, which will waste some power.

I believe it's a CM400A, not a 450. The standard 400s were enlarged to 450 in 1982, but Honda felt that the semi-auto model would not handle the extra heat, and sales had been poor anyway. I could be wrong though--it was a long time ago!|||Depending on your riding style, altitude, added weight/baggage, riding conditions and riding terrain, you should get about 45 - 50 MPG. 450's, 500's and 600's all got about that mpg. Actual numbers are supposed to be 33/35, which seem really low for this type of bike.

Honda doesn't always release mileage numbers on their bikes and it is extremely difficult to come by. Most of the numbers you will find will be from testing companies and not Honda themselves.
