What car company emphasizes great gas mileage?

I've been looking for a car model from 1995-2003, but I'm really putting gas mileage into the equation. I have a '97 Honda Civic, but I want my own car. It's so hard to leave my Honda because of its great gas mileage. I've compared gas mileage of other companies and they just don't compare.|||Toyota and Honda are the two companies that traditionally favor high fuel mileage. With that said, don't be fixated on fuel mileage, look for overall cost of ownership. I mean you could have a car that gets 50 MPG, but if it's in the shop frequently you're spending more money in repairs than you're saving in fuel costs. The Ford Crown Vic is a good example of this. It's fuel mileage isn't great, but they are cheap to buy, reliable, cheap to insure, and cheap to fix when something does go wrong. Coincidentally it has a very low cost of ownership, less than many cars that get better fuel mileage.|||Get a 1980's Honda CRX. Almost triple the gas milage you're getting from your car.

Doesn't even compare.|||the 2000-2003 smart fortwo greatly emphasizes gas mileage, even ones of that year. im sure its not practical for you, so id say something like a 95' toyota camry.
