Whenever I get my oil change, this question comes up. Is the expensive sythetic oil worth it? What benefits does it have, both for your gas mileage and your engine? Is it worth paying $25 bucks more an oil change to get it?How much does the grade of oil you use affect your gas mileage?
Motor oil does three things for your engine. It lubricates the engines moving parts, carries away impurities, and it cools the bottom end of your engine. With age the oil breaks down and becomes thick and doesn't flow properly. This causes your engine to build up heat causing friction which causes more heat and more friction, causing wear. Conventional motor oils are good for a maximume of 4500 miles before it breaks down to the point where it's additive pachage is gone, the flow characteristics are destroyed, and the acids and adverse chemicals your engine has produced, due to the internal combustion of fuel, has turned it into a useless goo. Synthetic oils do not break down like conventional oils, so they stay viscouse for much longer. They will lubricate your engine much longer and cool it longer then conventional oils. They also carry away impurities, so, even though they cool and lubricate your engine for a longer period of time, they are still building up acids, and such, that can corrode the internal parts. You can use synthetic oils over conventional oils, but you shouldn't leave them in your engine for over 5000 miles between oil changes. You can change from conventional to synthetics at any time with no adverse effects on your engine. Changing types at high mileage is fine also. Just keep in mind there is a break in period. The conventional oils have built up glazes which help old seals from allowing oil to leak. Synthetic oils clean away the glaze, but soften the seals so they stop oil from leaking. There is an interum period where the glaze has gone but the seals aren't softened completly where the engine leaks oil. This will disappear over time. Due to the increased oil flow and damaging coatings removed, the friction inside the engine should lessen, so the mileage should improve slightly. I read a test where a Dodge Dakota's lubricants were all changed to synthetics. The truck was dynoed before and after the change. There was a 7% increase in horsepower.
I am a strong believer in the synthetic oil. I use Amsoil all the time and it costs double or more than regular oil. Amsoil is great, see this link:
http://www.amsoil.com
also, use the proper type; i.e. 10w30 or 10w40 or 5w30 or 5w40 as specified in your owners manual as to not void the warranty. never use straight 30w for example or 20w. those are for mowers and other weird things.
Synthetic BLEND should be used if you never used synthetic before and you have over 30000 miles on your car because it is too late to use all synthetic (thinner and will leak). How much does the grade of oil you use affect your gas mileage?
It's a waste of money. Modern oils are good for up to 10,000 miles. As far as gas consumption goes, it's the viscosity of the oil that effects mileage, not the type.
Affecting gas mileage? Very little. A synthetic will remain liquid at a larger range of temperatures and, will reduce wear on components.
For me, the gain in using synthetic is that I'm NOT using dinosaur oil. I'm helping to create a market for something other than crude oil. It's not much, but it's something I can do.
If you're going to keep your car for 200,000 miles, I don't think there's any difference in engine wear. If you want to keep it forever and put a zillion miles on it, then switch to synthetic.
Oh, synthetic will not 'gum' up... so if you switch, do it slowly. Like put in 1 quart for an oil change, then 2 the next oil change...How much does the grade of oil you use affect your gas mileage?
Rule 1: Always use the correct weight in motor oil as stated in your owners manual
Rule 2: If your car has some serious miles on it DO NOT switch to synthetics.
Why??? Well, synthetic motor oil not only lubicates better at high temps - it also "Digests" build-ups in your engine. If you have high miles on your car these gunky build-ups are probably plugging some teeny, tiny holes in your gaskets etc... and once you run the synths for a while you will develop leaks.
If you are looking to extend your gas mileage and/or reduce emissions you would probably do better with a high quality fuel additive. The one I use has boosted my mileage by 20% (Subaru outback wagon, 2.5 turbo) and allowed me to switch from premium fuels to mid-grade with no loss in power and no knocking. I won't advertise here but I do have a link on my profile if you are interested.

What is the best new car for under 20,000 with gas mileage as the key factor?
I am close to purchasing my first new car. It must be under 20,000 and the most important factors are 1: gas mileage 2: must be sporty. What is the best new car for under 20,000 with gas mileage as the key factor?
Toyota corrola, matrix ,yaris pontiac vibe its a toyota just made in the U.S. i have one good car cheaper then a matriix. No nissan... Honda civic yo may be able to work a deal on a suburu forester.
I can't choose your car for you, but if I were in the market for a fuel efficient, inexpensive, reliable car, I would be looking at either a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. What is the best new car for under 20,000 with gas mileage as the key factor?
toyota corolla - is that sporty enough for you?
2007 Honda Civic Coupe LX 5-Spd AT
2007 MINI Cooper
2007 Volkswagen New Beetle 2.5L
All get great gas mileage and you can make these as sporty as you want after you buyWhat is the best new car for under 20,000 with gas mileage as the key factor?
here's a link to some new cars on ebay motors with good gas sporty
Dodge Caliber
Honda Civic is probably your best bet. The Domestics still can't build a car as good. A Corolla S would be kinda fun too (they are do for a redesign in 2008). The Honda Fit has been getting a lot of good press, but the Civic has a lot more power, gets similar mpg and can be had at about the same price. I have also read good things about the Mazda 3's, and the standard version with the 2.0 gets pretty good mpg. The S versions have a bigger motor, and thus fuel economy suffers. The S version is probably the sportiest of the bunch.
I think overall a Civic is your best bet. They have a proven track record and hold their value really well.

How good is the gas mileage on a Mini Cooper?
We're considering trading in our Jeep Cherokee (1999) for a Coop more than likely a used one, but I'd like to hear from those of you who own a Coop on how the gas mileage is and what year you have, also are there any owners out there w/kids? We have a 4 year old. How easy is it to get your kids in/out of the backseat? Is it comfortable for them?
Thanks in advance for your respones! How good is the gas mileage on a Mini Cooper?
My mom has one and I'm not particularly keen on it.
Rear seat room is almost non-existent. My mom is claustrophobic and is unable to sit in the back of the car without getting a panic attack it is so small back there.
As far as gas mileage, we have the Cooper S and live in an area with lots of hills and lots of city traffic and mileage is only about 22mpg combined. Not particularly impressive considering the car doesn't have much power.
We also have the convertible, which is bad for numerous reasons. First of all, you get the smallest trunk ever. Second, the rear seat area is even more confined. Third, the convertible has the biggest blindspots ever when the top is up and you can't even see out of the rear view mirror.
On the positive side, my mom does get lots of compliments, which she likes, and she was also happy to switch from an SUV to the Mini.
The best advice is to go to a dealer with your children. Usually the salespeople are happy to give you a test drive and you can see how the kids like the car.How good is the gas mileage on a Mini Cooper?
I have a mini cooper and love it. It give me about 38 on the highway. I have a 3 year grandson (mom in Iraq) and it is easy I fold one side of the seat and I can put his stroller and other stuff and fit fine I highly recommended. I have had mine for almost 3 years. my co worker is getting one just because she loves mine and drives better than a jaguar . the seats are quite comforable I have a 19 year and rides alot in the back seat and our neighbor tags alot with us too. Mine has 6 air bags

What is the best OLD truck for gas mileage?
I'd like to buy a used beatup old truck to strap a kayak in the back of and drive across country. Gas mileage is my biggest concern. I'd also like to have 4 wheel drive but am willing to give that up if the gas mileage is too expensive. Is it bad for the speakers or gas mileage to play music loud?
I have a Ford Focus with a stock system. I just got an iPod transmitter so I'm excited about listening to music in the car. I play it pretty loud with the bass and treble all the way up. Is that bad for gas mileage or the speakers.
The complete volume isn't all the way up, just about 75% or 80%.Is it bad for the speakers or gas mileage to play music loud?
Everyone here is right., except the 1 b4 me that post wasn't there as I was answering. I popped my cheesy stock speakers! As for my gas mileage, oddly yes it was bad for me, I seemed to Lean a little harder on the gas when I was listening and getting into my tunes. I'm totally serious btw...life is short, it's ur car do what U want :)
p.s.s. I blew them out listening to hip hop ;)
no its not bad for you mileage. It is hard on your speakers because they are stock speakers so they will eventually blow out. generally you should set your bass at 3/4 and treble slightly less then that.Is it bad for the speakers or gas mileage to play music loud?
It will not affect your mileage at all, as to the speakers, they can be damaged but as long as you dont change the stock system they should be OK.
no not bad for gas mileage - the speakers could wear quicker because of the constant use at higher frequencies ... but it is def. bad for your hearingIs it bad for the speakers or gas mileage to play music loud?
Yes it's bad for those cheap little speakers and your EARS!!!
i have gone through 2 sets of crappy speakers, the ones in the frt like 3 " O well, life is short....and I listen to RAP and HIP HOP
For the speakers you wouldnt likely get wear but rather catastrophic failure or major damage all at once. If you start to hear buzzing or distortion then your speakers are clipping - i.e. the amp is running out of power to drive them at that volume, and this is when things start to go bad (not what most people think - that the amp is not powerful enough to damage them),
They may tear , seize or literally melt down your amp which will likely start to overheat. Really bad for your hearing as well - ask yourself if you wanna have the hearing of an 80 year old in 5 years time - but there is usually no point in warning anyone about that, so at least back of the treble - this is where most hearing damage would likely occur.
no and no
the manufactures would not make the radio powerful enough to blow the speakers
It sure stinks to all the people around you that have to suffer your filthy rap trash at 80% volume..

What would be the best vehicle for a family of 5 in regards to gas mileage?
We have a Honda Odyssey and a Honda Civic. The Odyssey's gas mileage is TERRIBLE! The Civic is too small for all of us to ride comfortably. Is there something maybe inbetween. Maybe not as big as the Odyssey but better gas mileage? What would be the best vehicle for a family of 5 in regards to gas mileage?

Hyundai ElantraWhat would be the best vehicle for a family of 5 in regards to gas mileage?
For a family of 5, i would guess a mini-van of some sort. I would avoid any bigger engine, often the base engine/transmission is the best for fuel mileage, and you may also get a break on your insurance. Diesel engines often get double the econo of gas engines, although they usually cost more to buy, and maintain.

How do I get better gas mileage wig a stick shift?
I drive a 2004 bmw x3 in a stick and I was wondering how to improve my gas mileage. I am fairly new to stick shifts and can never get as good of gas milege as when my dad drives he can always get 5 to 6 mpg better than me. Is there a trick that I'm just missing? ThanksHow do I get better gas mileage wig a stick shift?
Drive like there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal. Whether stick or automatic. Gentle acceleration (and braking) is critical to good MPG. You want to keep the load on the engine as even as possible, and keep the gear as high as possible for the speed (without "tractoring" the engine, like going up a hill at 30 in 5th).
Other than that, small stuff, like never idle more than 30 seconds -- especially a cold engine. A car will warm up in 2 minutes driving, or 15 minutes idling. Remember, warm or cold, idling gets zero MPG. Group your driving tasks, don't drive to onechore, wait two hours then another drive, etc. Plan to do all the driving in 1 or 2 trips so the engine stays warm. How do I get better gas mileage wig a stick shift?
shift as soon as possible
be in the highest gear as you can
dont floor it all the time

What is the van with the best gas mileage?
When I move in with my boyfriend in a few years, we plan on getting a van. We want a van that is fairly well on gas mileage, and one that we can get for cheap that is used because we don't want to buy one that is going to cost the living he// out of us. We would like to get one in about the 80's or 90's maybe even 2000's if we can buy it cheap enough. Please give us suggestions, thank you so much! What is the van with the best gas mileage?

Why does a standard car get better gas mileage than an automatic?
I've always heard that a standard car gets better gas mileage than an automatic. Why is this? Why does a standard car get better gas mileage than an automatic?
well, cars usually get higher gas miliage at lower RPMs. In an automatic, it shifts when it wants, usually when it hits a certain RPM or trips a switch somewhere. But, in a stick, you can shift whenever you want, so you have better control over the RPMs and can keep them lower.
The manual tranny is locked once the clutch is released.
The old style automatic torque converter is has some slip. So it gets about 10% hotter. That energy has to come from somewhere.
But many modern automatic trannies also lock at hwy cruise (but not at other speeds). So at hwy, there is very little difference.
Good Luck...Why does a standard car get better gas mileage than an automatic?
It is because of the torque converter. That's what one other poster said when he said a manual was "locked up".
The torque converter is a great invention. Its job is to get a load started smoooothly, and it works great. It just burns up a lot of energy doing that. It wastes energy by viscous dissipation (heating up the oil that it's churning). That is its only bad feature.
There may also be some friction advantages of a manual, but I think that's probably open to debate.
Probably because you shift as you want. Even downshifting in automatic it just does it when you step on the gas whereas in manual you have to downshift manually.
Pretty much you can better gas mileage because you have more control over your car.Why does a standard car get better gas mileage than an automatic?
Not for all cars
Some modern automatic transmission can get about the same or better gas mileage as the manual trans.
E: The Honda Civic LX gets 1 MPG less in the city, but 1 MPG more on the highway with the auto trans.

manuals don't allow the transmission to slip so there's less power lost between the engine and the wheels
more efficient energy transfer = better gas mileage
youre constantly running at lower rpms because a human usually wouldnt downshift up a hill when an auto trans would.oil change

Better gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?
Do you get better gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up? or it is the same gas mileage when you only get a specific amount (ex. $20)?
You know I have to ask? Do you get better gas mileage with higher octane gas? Some cars recommend it, if you fuel up with a higher octane than recommended are you just wasting money?Better gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?
you get the same milage with a small amount of gas in the tank,or full tank!! it's the shape of the tank that make people think they get less millage, thats because the tank is usually smaller at the bottom, the more gas in the tank the better, for keeping the fuel pump pickup tube covered in tuel, and the less chance,of moisture buildup, due to the condensation of metal tank's,also helps prevent rust from forming if ur car has to sit for a period of time..use the octane recamended for ur car,and if u got money for higher octane fuel,i'd buy that once in a while,it's a better grade of gas;if ti's a performance vehichle i'd use premium as much as possable...
the mileage is the same no matter how full the tank and octane is for anti-ping aka pre-ignition if you can drive your car without hearing a rattle or pinging on acceleration esp. on hills at a lower octane dont waste the money on higher octane the increase in fuel mileage doesnt cover the increase in costBetter gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?
wont matter Howe much fuel you put in. the level in the tank has no bearing on the mileage you will get, as for higher octane.yes it burns more efficiently and you will see a slight increase in mileage but not enough to warrant the higher cost up side of high octane is better engine performance.the reason manufactures recommend higher octane is because of the high performance engin,s they put in the there bigger cars need it to run like they tell you it will .and to protect the life of the engin .
if your car recommends regular and you use a higher octane, your wasting your mone, because your computer is set to run on the recomended octane, and as for do you get better milage if you fill up, not necessary, because if your car is going to be easy on gas, then it will be on a half tank as it is on a full tank.Better gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?
You won't get better mileage by filling the tank, but you will get a more acurate reading from full to empty if you are trying to keep track of MPG.
I have to disagree with a lot of the answers here about upgrading to premium vs regular unleaded, but that may depend on where you live. Several auto manufactures have done tests on fuel quality, and found that the amount of water and impurities is much higher here in the southeast (thus our cheaper gas prices), and has caused a higher failure rate on emission and fuel related parts. The extra $4 or $5 a tank is cheap insurance compared to a pricey repair. I personally only fill up with premium and am getting exceptional gas mileage in my PT Cruiser, and I finally convinced hubby to try it for two months in his Toyota Tacoma, and he is very happy with his fuel economy, let alone not having the "pinging" noise the Tacomas are known for.
beter millage with tank full fuel and also go for the super unlead (BP)
Use the type fuel that is recommended for your vehicle. Any higher grade on a regular basis is just throwing your money away, because the gain in mileage is not great enough to warrant it.
As far as better mileage when you fill up, filling up is the 'only' way that you can tell accurately what your mileage is. It is the only way that you will know that there is exactly the same quantity of fuel in the vehicle each time.

you get the same milage with a small amount of gas in the tank,or full tank!! it's the shape of the tank that make people think they get less millage, thats because the tank is usually smaller at the bottom, the more gas in the tank the better, for keeping the fuel pump pickup tube covered in tuel, and the less chance,of moisture buildup, due to the condensation of metal tank's,also helps prevent rust from forming if ur car has to sit for a period of time..use the octane recamended for ur car,and if u got money for higher octane fuel,i'd buy that once in a while,it's a better grade of gas;if ti's a performance vehichle i'd use premium as much as possable...
the mileage is the same no matter how full the tank and octane is for anti-ping aka pre-ignition if you can drive your car without hearing a rattle or pinging on acceleration esp. on hills at a lower octane dont waste the money on higher octane the increase in fuel mileage doesnt cover the increase in costBetter gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?
wont matter Howe much fuel you put in. the level in the tank has no bearing on the mileage you will get, as for higher octane.yes it burns more efficiently and you will see a slight increase in mileage but not enough to warrant the higher cost up side of high octane is better engine performance.the reason manufactures recommend higher octane is because of the high performance engin,s they put in the there bigger cars need it to run like they tell you it will .and to protect the life of the engin .
if your car recommends regular and you use a higher octane, your wasting your mone, because your computer is set to run on the recomended octane, and as for do you get better milage if you fill up, not necessary, because if your car is going to be easy on gas, then it will be on a half tank as it is on a full tank.Better gas mileage by filling the tank when you fuel up?

How can I get better gas mileage from my truck?
I have a 1994 GMC K1500 with a 10 inch lift and 35 inch tires and get around 8-10 miles to the gallon, what do I need to do to get better gas mileage? Performance Chips? Some stuff I can treat my gas with or oil? please help. How can I get better gas mileage from my truck?
The laws of physics and aerodynamics are such that there's really very little you can do to significantly improve your fuel economy and retain any semblence of driveability if you're driving a full size truck with a big lift and 35" tires.
The easiest thing you could do I guess is to run a taller (lower numerically) rear end ratio. That will lower your cruising RPM. Unfortunately, doing so will also make your truck slower to accelerate and I'm sure with an older truck running big tires you're not real willing to part with any power.
Adding a chip won't do much if anything to improve fuel economy (and you'd probably have to run it on premium fuel using the chip, which costs even more), and anything you can dump in your fuel tank is just a gimmick - if a fuel manufacturer could dump some magic potion into their fuel to give drivers better gas mileage they'd do it in a heartbeat to steal customers from other fuel manufacturers.
I use iridium spark plugs with low resistence spark plug wires and got a 10% increase in fuel mileage 13 mpg to14.5. I put on a TBI phenolic spacer and a injector space and got it 10 16.7 mpg in my 93 Suburban 2WD. I haven't put the electric fans on or I bought a tornado off EBAY for $15.
I have found an issue with GM brakes. If the back brakes don't help stop the vehicle, then the tubes that hold the calipers bend and hold the front brake on. I would check your brakes on all four corners. I when down to 10-11mpg for no reason. Found the brake issue. Back up to normal now.
I will add to this when I install the fans. I am modifying the breather so that air will flow straighter into the TBI unit, past the injectors. This was very restictive from the factory. By the way, all mpg shown are city values. I bought the Sub used. It got 14city/21highway when I bought it
I run 255/70/15 tires. It was bad with the 235/75/15's. It would not stop. That is why all newer Subs have wider tires. Lost 1MPG for wider tires. Gained 1 MPG for taller tires. This has 3.42 dif. Stock engine. 223k miles now. Check for vaccuum leaks. This will drink gas.
You might want to check youor gears and timing chain. It has a steel cam gear and it doesn't go bad like the plastic one. I changed mine when the water pump goes out. Buy the true roller chain for a few buckds more..It gives a very sharp acurate timing set up and you can't wear it out.
Unlike the scientists answer ill just say this adding a couple extra pounds of air into ur tires will decrease drag that will help a little also they sell aftermarket air intake mixer a common brand is tornado this will more efficiently mix ur air and gas a cold air intake would also help these can b ordered at any auto parts store spectre and k%26amp;n r very common making sure u have good plugs and wires to burn all the gas in ur cyclonders is also good hop this helps
A smaller truck, the gas saved will pay for it self
Snake oil salesman are out in force I see.
You can google the tornado, or any of the hydrogen making kits, magnetic fuel particle dividers, etc., and find each and every one is a hoax. The only way they help you get better mileage is by lightening your pocketbook. I believe it was popularmechanics a few years back that tested about 6 or 8 of these devices. I'm not a scientist, nor did I stay at a holiday inn last night, but the laws of physics are against every single one of these devices.
Did you or whoever you bought the truck from ensure that the odometer was trued to the new tires? If not, then your fuel economy calculations are false anyways...fix that issue, then see what you get. People used to be really bad about changing tire size without making sure they had changed the speedometer gears, but that seems to have pleasantly changed as of late. Anymore, a good GPS unit will give you very accurate speed readings, enough to see that your speedometer is correct at 60MPH. If the speedometer is off due to gear/tire mismatch, don't forget that it's a percentage...10% at 35MPH is 3.5MPH off, 10% at 60 is 6MPH off. Adds up when calculating economy on a tank of fuel.
You can add some air to your tires (and wear out the centers faster, may actually be worth the trade off) but most importantly is to make sure your driving habits are conducive to good mileage. Slow down (as in don't speed, if you do now). Economy decreases exponentially as speeds increase. Trucks require something like 25% more power to travel 10MPH faster. Don't ride the gas up to a red light. Don't tailgate. If you need your brakes, you aren't thinking far enough ahead of your own vehicle. If manual, take it out of gear down hill. ALWAYS get and stay right except when passing. That way your "annoying" (sane, economical) new driving habits won't irritate so many people. :)
Yes, it all may sound stupid, but my econobox rated for 31 MPG gets 38-40MPG (and I'm not easy on the car, I just follow what I suggest above) and I've gotten 16-18MPG on my (at the time) carbureted '85 K5, 350, transmission with no overdrive, 3.42 rear gears, and 33" tires.

I was wondering if someone could measure a Dodge Magnum and let me know how long it is (I want to make sure it would fit in my garage). Also, what kind of gas mileage do you get?How long is a Dodge Magnum and gas mileage?
197.7 in length
gass is about 22 miles to a gallonHow long is a Dodge Magnum and gas mileage?

What parts if any will improve my gas mileage?
I have a 1998 extracab 2wd 2.4L toyota tacoma with an automatic transmission. Are there any parts that I could get that would increase my gas mileage significantly? Any suggestions? What parts if any will improve my gas mileage?
the only significant change in mpg would be your driving habits. check out ecomodder website for plenty of tips on mpgsWhat parts if any will improve my gas mileage?
I heard that you can buy a new chip for the truck's computer/fuel injection that changes the way it delivers fuel. If you're wanting significant changes in mileage, you'll have to go so far as changing out the rear-end differential with an aftermarket custom piece. It's a big chunk of money just for gas savings. Not to mention that the transmission is set up and configured for that rear end. If the truck was newer, it would be an option, but I wouldn't fiddle with it now. What parts if any will improve my gas mileage?
Significantly? That is a relative term. Someone might think 2 mpg increase is significant while others might think that means 5.
With changes to the exhaust, air filter intake, synthetic fluids in the drive train and potentially a hotter ignition you would likely see something along the lines of 2-3 mpg increase. I would not expect more than that.jdm

What sport bike has the best combination of power and gas mileage?
I recently bought a Ninja 250 which some would say has power and gas mileage. But it is lacking on the power side when compared to larger engine sport bikes. What sport bikes are out there that have a "normal" or medium amount of power and gets good gas mileage (like 50+ mpg average)? What sport bike has the best combination of power and gas mileage?
GSXR600 is probably the most powerful 600cc. They all will get around the same mileage.
The Ninja EX500 is twice the size of your bike and gets good fuel mileage as well. It is faster, but not as fast as a GSXR or CBR, mind you. But it's still plenty fast.
Once you get into the middleweight 600cc class of the Suzuki GSXR's, the Honda CBR's, the Kawasaki Ninja's, and the Yamaha R6, things really start to blend together- it all comes down to personal taste. Most bikes are within + or - a few seconds on a race track with a comparable rider, and on the street, it comes down to the indivdual riders talent. Not one bike is amazingly faster than another. And, all get around the same fuel mileage (except the new Yamaha R6, which revs to 17,600rpm, killing fuel mileage).
Just be sure to stay within your abilties and get a bike YOU like. What sport bike has the best combination of power and gas mileage?
EX-500!!!
You can buy any 600 mid weight and get it tuned for fuel efficiency. Should get awesome mileage and still have good power. Ninja 6R all the way... though I'd hate to make my baby lose ANY power, I'll pay the extra gas money. What sport bike has the best combination of power and gas mileage?
gsx-r1000 good gas mileage plus has power to pass or sunday drive all day long.

How can i "mechanically" increase my gas mileage on my 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?
I would like to increase my gas mileage on my 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor? I'm not looking to change my driving habits because they are very superb when it comes to saving gas. I'm looking for what i can do mechanically to get better gas mileage. How can i "mechanically" increase my gas mileage on my 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?
Besides the obvious stuff like oil changes, car washes, and properly inflating your tires, try removing weight from the vehicle, like taking out the back seats, removing spare tire or anything in the trunk, etc. You can also install a Short Ram Intake which is extremely easy. It will boost your horsepower and allow you to use fuel more efficiently. A touring exhaust system will do the same thing. How can i "mechanically" increase my gas mileage on my 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?
The first thing you should realize is, the car was NOT built to be an economy car. it is a pursuit vehicle and is going to use fuel at a much higher rate. It was designed to be that way. Yes, you can spend money on parts, as suggested by another here, but inherently the car will not be a good fuel use performer. Good luck. How can i "mechanically" increase my gas mileage on my 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?
Unless you're willing to get into rear gear changes, the car is about as good as it's going to get. Removing excess weight is a good way, running the tire air pressure to the hi side of normal.....
good luck i agree with the last guy, there are a few things you can do, but as far as mechanically, i dont think so i mean its a v8 not really good on mileage to start off

Gas mileage of Taurus and modern Challenger?
Isn't it weird? 2002 Ford Taurus gets 18mpg city and 25mpg highway. The 2009 Dodge Challenger V6 gets 18mpg city and 25mpg highway. Both are V6 24 valve. But the newer Dodge Engine has variable valve timing to save gas. Why would they get the same gas mileage when they are totally different cars. Remember that the Dodge uses a live rear axle while wastes energy that could have been used to drive the wheels. FWD is more gas efficient. So what gives?Gas mileage of Taurus and modern Challenger?
Actually, the Challenger engine DOES have better fuel economy. Like you said, the rear axle uses more power. Also, the Challenger weighs over 4,000 pounds while the Taurus is around 3,000. Because of this, the engine has to use more power to move the Challenger than it would the Taurus.
If the Challenger engine was in the Taurus, it would get more MPG, and if the Taurus engine was in the Challenger, it would get less MPG.

How do I make my Cadillac get better gas mileage?
My grandparents are trying to give me a 1992 Cadillac Deville and Im really worried about not being able to keep gas in it because I go to school in a different city then I live. Is there anything I can get put on the car or something that will make the caddy have better gas mileage? Its the only thing that is really holding me back from taking the car.How do I make my Cadillac get better gas mileage?
Goldensrod for the win. That is not the ideal car to be commuting on a daily basis with. You could make sure the car is well tuned, and the other big thing is making sure your tires have the correct tire inflation. But yeah, selling the Caddy and finding a more fuel efficient vehicle is the way to go.How do I make my Cadillac get better gas mileage?
The 4.9 V8 wont get great gas mileage, one option is to improve the breathing of the car with a more efficient intake system and some improved exhaust. also running the car with out using some of the comfort items like heating and air can do some improvement to the gas mileage. unfortunately its isn't practical to do these modifications and you are better off trying to sell the car for its ~$1,250 sell value and invest in a car that will be more practical to drive your distance on a regular basis.traffic school

Are there any small cars that get good gas mileage and do well driving in the snow?
I'm looking to buy another car (used) - bc my current car is horrible in the snow. I'm looking for a small, inexpensive used car just to be used for winter driving. Are there any smallish cars that are good with driving in the snow and its not necessary that they get good gas mileage but, that'd be a plus the way gas prices are skyrocketing. Are there any small cars that get good gas mileage and do well driving in the snow?
One of the things not mentioned is cars that have traction control. If you cannot not switch the traction control off this can be a problem as you will not be able to spin the tires enough to get up even very slight grades as the power will be reduced.
Dear sk8brdkd,
I agree with others that have replied to your question; good tires are something that you will want to take into consideration. However, I recommend that you use the GM Certified Used Vehicle site to research used GM vehicles in your area. Here is the site address: www.gmcertified.com.
Since, you are seeking something with good gas mileage I recommend that you research the Chevrolet Cobalt or the Chevrolet Aveo. If these two vehicles are too small for what you are seeking; then I recommend taking a look at the Chevrolet Malibu or the Chevrolet Impala.
If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to private message me.
Sincerely,
Michelle P., GM Customer ServiceAre there any small cars that get good gas mileage and do well driving in the snow?
I am shopping for a new car, and this is exactly what I am looking for. So, for the last week I have been studying this topic like my life depends upon it. I have also watched almost all the crash test video, and you might also want to look up the list of cars on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety like I did. The absolute best car that I came up with for driving in snow, that is small is the Subaru Impreza 2.5i
If you go to the Subaru website you can search for used Subarus. I live in a country that gets snow for the most part of the year and i am going to work my hardest to get myself into a Subaru.
I hope your not american asking this question.....people crying bout no jobs when there are plenty of Excellent quality built cars made here in the USA, only time you buy foreign is if you are getting a BMW or a Mercedes etc now i would buy one of them ........ i have a Chevy Cobalt had 18 inches of snow ....didnt stop me ! , oh yea it gets 34.2 mpg w/auto.Are there any small cars that get good gas mileage and do well driving in the snow?
Any car can do great in snow with the proper tires. In fact, I can pass Subarus in my mustang. It's more about the driver than the car.
yes ! get a subaru. they will go right through snow and not bad on gas either. if you have a wife and kids get a subaru wagon like a outback.
Maybe the Subaru Justy, but it will be very hard to find because I don't think they make it anymore.

How much of an effect does air conditioning have on my gas mileage?
The gas mileage for my van seems to bottom out in the summer months when I have to use the air conditioning. This year, so far, it seems worse than ever. I am getting about 30 miles less on a tank of gas. Any suggestions or insights? How much of an effect does air conditioning have on my gas mileage?
check your air filter get new plugs check your fuel filter.
If this doesen`t work, i advice you to visit http://topaerconditionat.ro/ there you will find your answer. Good luck
Mythbusters actually did a bit on this..yes, the a/c does cost you a little bit of gas mileage, but so does the wind resistance of riding with the windows down. It worked out to be essentially the same. So you can take your pick in the summer, a/c or riding with the windows down, it up to you.
By running your AC, an extra load is added to your engine causing it too work harder. You can roll down the window for some free cooling or only use your AC in the short drives and window for the long ones.
You may want to have your vehicle tuned up, often that can make an enormous difference. How much of an effect does air conditioning have on my gas mileage?
Get a tune up and keep up on your oil changes and stuff, making sure your engine is running as well and smooth as it can is one way to make sure you cut down how hard the AC hits you on gas usage.
Also try to see if you can cut back on your AC usage, for me, I only use the AC when my wife or my son is with me, or other small children, other then that, I roll the windows down. I dont know your exact situation, so I dont know how much that applys to you.
if it is hot, isnt the mileage difference worth it? couple mi per gal. unless you sit and idle a lot..
a/c 10-15% loss in economy.
30 gallons is not too bad when you consider how hot you would be without it. when you've been hot all day at work and you hit the road with the a/c on, it makes it all worth it.
In my car its about 3 miles less per gallon

please let me know what kind of mpg you are getting in your automatic 1.8L corolla. I am thinking of getting one this week but i want to know that it has great gas mileage. What kind of gas mileage are you getting in your Toyota Corolla?
A 1.8 is always heavier on gas than a 1 .6 Rather pass on it because toyata spares are also more expensive

Is there a way to test gas mileage with a broken odometer?
I have a 94 thunderbird, and it just seems to get TOO bad gas mileage. I put 8 gallons in, an its at least 3/4 gone after driving maybe 90 miles. Is there a way to test gas mileage with a broken odometer?
you cant really do that and be accurate about it unless the speedometer is working on it ,all you can do is guess at it,and you could be off 3-5 miles per gallon either way ,id suggest getting the speedometer repaired before i attempted to figure the mileage on it,good luck.
your welcome.
i wish gas prices can go down
look up map on where you drive count miles or use a gpsIs there a way to test gas mileage with a broken odometer?
that's almost 14 mpg.
Yep like J said...look at a map with a scale of mileage on it.

What is the easiest way to improve my car's gas mileage?
Considering gas prices are low now, I want to get in the habit of trying to maximize my car's gas mileage before prices skyrocket this summer. What are some of the best ways to do that? What is the easiest way to improve my car's gas mileage?
There are plenty of ways to get better gas mileage:
Try and drive the speed limit
Make sure your tires are properly inflated
Get rid of all the extra stuff you keep in your trunk
Avoid taking short trips/sitting in traffic
Use mild acceleration.
Inflate your tires to the recommended pressure on the sidewall of the tire. Keep your vehicle maintenance done on the proper schedule. Avoid quick starts away from stop lights/signs, and avoid hard breaking. Keep your speed on the highway at about 65 or so. Avoid unnecessary idling. What is the easiest way to improve my car's gas mileage?
Here are some options (depends on your driving conditions, will you then know which way is the easiest):
- go on highway, less stop and go
- avoid full throttling your engine
- keep tires at the recommended pressure
- keep proper maintenance so that all car parts will work efficiently
- drive on roads with less traffic lights so you dont have to always accelerate your engine
- take out unnecessary equipment, items out from your car (more light your car is = better fuel mileage)
Keep your tires inflated. What is the easiest way to improve my car's gas mileage?
get a k%26amp;n air filter, an aligment, bosch platinum spark plugs, dont hit the gas too hard, get your engine oil change every 3000 mlies, and keep your tires at 35psi.

What kind of Gas Mileage does a BMW e30 318 get?
I'm looking for something small and RWD but still pretty good on gas. I've heard that these get really good mileage (30-35) but the official numbers are saying that it's really bad. (17-22) What's the deal?
Also, approximatly how much would a full paint job be for a sedan? What kind of Gas Mileage does a BMW e30 318 get?
I have an E30 325i. I get around 25 mpg on the freeway and I go around 80 mph. I also live in san diego where it is pretty hilly and that really effects mpg. You can get 30 easy as long as the engine is still tight. If you get one change out the fuel, air and oil filter. Oil change, new spark plugs, wires and distributor cap along with the O2 sensor and you will be good. Those parts online should only cost 300 dollars and all are easy enough to put in yourself.
You can also look into the 325 or 325e or 325es Those three models were all carburated and tuned for maximum fuel efficency. They only rev to about 4K so the engines are not as stressed as their higher strung cousins. I know people with 250K miles on them and they get around 35 MPG.
A paintjob for a daily driver, you can just get one of those Earl Sheib or Maaco deals. 500 dollars or so. It helps to do a lot of the prep yourself. When I get my car done next spring I will be removing all the trim and tape off all the glass along with removing all the lights and grill that way all the guys have to do is shoot it. It is really easy with an E30, like the bumper is only held on with 2 nuts! What kind of Gas Mileage does a BMW e30 318 get?
it depends on the condition of the car. if its poorly maintained, then it won't get the same mileage as wen it was new. But they had great mileage new. as for the paint, it depends on the quality, and if you're trying to switch colors or just get a respray.

When shopping for a car is gas mileage your main concern?
Is that all that matters to you now? Getting a car with the best gas mileage possible? Or are you more concerned about safety, reliability, and style? When shopping for a car is gas mileage your main concern?
Look at OVERALL expense over the entire time you will own the car. For example, buying a Hybrid just to save gas when its new will put you in the poor house if you keep it until it needs new battery's and the closer it gets in age to that point the quicker it's resale value will drop.
Many will be shocked when they have to put out thousands of dollars to replace the battery's and they will be shocked at the low trade in value of the car as it gets closer to that replacement time.
What matters most to me in a car is tail fins. When shopping for a car is gas mileage your main concern?
No...I want the biggest SUV I can find. Screw gas prices, it is not a problem.
no id have to say reliability is still #1 looks a close 2nd gas is always going to be expensive its a fact of life dealWhen shopping for a car is gas mileage your main concern?
i am still concerned about style. Also i am concerned about auto insurance. Makes a difference which insurance policy and company you deal with for your automobile.
Gas mileage is very important as the gas price is up to $11 per gallon over here in Istanbul. Also the engine displacement is very important. Over 4000 cc displacement, annual tax is over $10000 while under 1300 cc it is only $400. None of these numbers are exaggerated in any way and they are in U.S. dollars. A GL series Mercedes SUV costs $279000 with an annual insurance of $11000. Which one do you think I should worry about more?
Mileage is in the middle towards the bottom of my list. Ten years from now, we're going to laugh at how much fuel cars use/waste today, just like we laugh at the mileage cars from the 50's and 60's achieved.
I just wanted to let everyone know about this great site I found with lots of useful Gas saving tips and information. It is a free site, so no worries. Check it out and save some money like I did using the tips. Good luck!

When does your car get better gas mileage?
Does you car get better gas mileage when the tank is half full or more, versus when it is half empty or less? When does your car get better gas mileage?
It doesn't seem to care how much gas is in the tank -- it gets better mileage on the freeway than it does around town.
half full on cruise controlWhen does your car get better gas mileage?
After a chicken phall.
Almost empty because it is lighter in weight. When does your car get better gas mileage?
The more gas in the tank, the better. It's evaporation.
If you had a full glass of water opposed to a half full glass of water sitting in the sun, which one do you think would evaporate the quickest? You're right (I'm sure). The glass with the less water in it!
Go fill up that tank!
well, half full and half empty are the same thing..
technically there will be a SLIGHT increase in mileage per gallon when there are only 5 gallons in the tank vs. 35 gallons because of the simple fact that with a full tank you are pulling more weight. and that is the only difference.
and cruise control is very bad for fuel efficiency... woa, in all of john d's years of driving he's never heard that... must not be true then... C/C doesn't coast when your coming up to something, it doesn't think of whats ahead and consider your whole journey, it just gives it more and more gas till its going fast enough, then sharply drops throttle, then just as sharply hits the gas again.
the difference between half full and above and half full and below is minute you wont notice the difference. and as far as the cruise control being bad for mileage, in all my years of driving i have never heard that. but it does save on speeding tickets. your car gets the fuel mileage it gets. if its full, what difference is it if the tank is full and your hauling 3 people in your car with you or if its empty? if you really want to know the answer, you might try consumer reports, if anyone has made a study of that, they would have. good luck
first off there is no more evaporation in your fuel system whether or not the tank is full the system is sealed and under a vacuum while the car is operating (ever notice the sucking sound when you open the gas cap)
second the cruise control is a very inefficient use of gas it trys to keep a certain speed and does not use momentum of hills.
third it only seems like the vehicle uses less gas when the tank is full this is due to the way the tank is designed and the float on the sending unit. if you look at most tanks the bottom usually has a small taper to it the volume is greater at the top of the tank. also when you fill it you do sink the float at the top (ever notice the tank registers as completely full longer than any other position)
If you want to increase your efficiency your best bet is to keep a clean air filter in it always and keep your tires properly inflated
I would say with a full tank and good use. to the best of my knowledge.

How do I drive my 5-speed car to get the best gas mileage?
I just bought a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE with a V6 and a 5-speed transmission. I know how to drive a standard and I have always been told that you can get better gas mileage with a standard if you drive it right. With this car how do I want to drive it, when to shift, how to accelerate, how to brake or downshift, ect, in order to get the best gas mileage possible? How do I drive my 5-speed car to get the best gas mileage?
The great advantage of a manual car is it allows you to use large throttle openings with low revs. This minimizes pumping loses. To get the best gas mileage use first gear to get you going then shift into the highest gear you can where you won't lug the engine. Put your foot to the floor accelerate a bit and then up shift again. It's odd to think about but if your in the right gear you actually get the best gas mileage if the gas pedal is floored. Just don't let the engine rev up too high. If you can do it without lugging the engine shift into the next gear at 2000rpm. If you can't do that raise your shift rpm until you find the right point. Every car is different but 2000rpm seems to work the best on my car. Also in rush hour traffic that is stop and go it is best to find a speed (even if it is only 1 or 2 mph) where you can just keep moving. this will really save your leg and your clutch as well as your gas mileage. For braking leave the engine in gear until right before you stop. If you want to engine brake just downshift into the lower gear.
Also when passing on the highway try not to downshift if you don't need to. Just floor it. If that's enough great. Otherwise downshift as most automatics would do.
Just remember when driving a manual for maximum fuel economy that High revs(2500+ for these purposes) are bad but having the pedal to the floor is good(minimizes pumping losses). You'll have to learn how to drive your car best under these conditions.
With Japanese engineering you already got an advantage of relaebility and performance , but their is a littel trick to improve the way you operate your manual. Well when you upshift try to hold gas pedal just a tiny bit longer before you realise the clutch.
As for down shift, realise gas pedal all the way ,before you step on the clutch, and let the car roll for a littel, then down shift using the same steps as upshift. How do I drive my 5-speed car to get the best gas mileage?
The key is to keep the RPM's in the engines happy spot, where it runs at the best efficiency.
Your happy spot where torque and hp meet for the best efficiency is from 3500-5000 rpm. Your looking at 175hp at 5k rpm and 210tq at 3.5k rpm.
Volumetric efficiency is 85% at 4k rpm, keep shift points around 3k or so and dont get on gas alot.
I drive a Geo Metro which has a shift light built into dash, shift points are 3k to save gas from factory, it helps to attain 50mpg in it.
Just take it easy accel and decel, let it coast (clutch in) to a stop if you see red light ahead and at small down hill parts.Kill the engine at long railroad crossings or waiting for someone. If you are idling more than 20secs you will use more gas than restarting car again to go.
I can remember when some cars had a light on the dash ,it would flash to tell you when to shift for the best gas mileage....The big thing to remember is not to lug the motor...You also don,t want to tach it out too much...You can tune your ear for the sound of the motor,,,I can do this and you can too...You got to listen to the motor.....You can tell when it,s purring happily...How do I drive my 5-speed car to get the best gas mileage?
Drive it like you have a load of eggs. Easy starts, smooth shifting, and easy braking. Drive in 5th gear when on the open highway. Keep your foot out of the fuel.
i have a 2000 camaro z28 with a 6 speed...
when i haul *** (or drive like it feels like it should be driven) i get about 19 mpg...
so that gives a little perspective for what i'm about to tell you..
when i really want to conserve fuel, i never let my car go above 2,000 rpm.
in 1st i switch to 2nd at 2k..... in 2nd i switch to 3rd at 2k, and by 4th, i'm going highway speed...
at 6th gear at 70, i'm at 1400 rpm...
when i do this, i get closer to 29mpg...
Downshifting is good because it puts less strain on your brakes, making them last a lot longer... as long as you don't slam the gears down and wear out your tranny / clutch etc....
but.. downshifting forces the rpm's UP in the motor, thus wasting more fuel.... so...
put it in NEUTRAL as often as you can.... when coming to a stop, coast into it for as long and as far as conveniently possible, and roll to a smooth stop.... when accelerating do what i stated above.
Here's the thing though. Your car has a different gear ratio. so 2,000 may not be high enough to get you going.
so... find what rpm you can realistically stick to in your car in order to get to speed smoothly without over accelerating, and don't shift beyond that..
in your car it may be 2500 or 3000..... whatever you CURRENTLY do, make it less by some significant number...
and like i said.. cost as much as possible.
the last job i had, i lived about 6 miles from. it was really cool because it was down hill the entire way to my house. I would literally cut the engine, put it in neutral and coast the majority of the way home after getting the car up to speed, as long as i could catch all of the lights in perfect time. it took me close to 2 months to get through a tank of gas ............. with a 415 horsepower v8.... (its not stock)
oh.... tire pressure helps too...
don't use acetone no matter what people say.... it eats up your fuel lines and tears up your injectors and other crap like that.
also, use the gas that your car requires.
aside from that, do a full out tune up... spark plugs, wires, filters, pcv valve, and what not..
if you want to be extreme about it, make sure to grease all your wheel bushings so there is less resistance for the car to push against etc.
lastly, gas conservation is about smooth actions... if your head jerks back when you take off, you're going too fast....
however, it really does piss the people behind me off when i'm at a stop light and the mini van next to me takes off faster than i do. but whatever... they aren't buying my gas....
good luck
p.s.....
you don't necessarily need to use all of your gears....
you can go from first to 3rd to 5th when it "feels" like it should be in those gears...
or 1 2 4 5 etc.... as long as you arent bogging the engine...
there is a sweet spot in every car where it runs with barely any resistance. every car is at a different speed... in my car, the sweet spot in 6th gear is about 80... there is no resistance on the engine.. it's straining to slow down and not straining to speed up.. it's a perfect balance..
(inconvenient in my case since the speed limit on average is 65)
most smaller motors have that sweet spot around 55 or 60.... so.... whatever that sweetspot is, find it and use it during long distance / highway driving

Out of all the SUVs which gets the best gas mileage?
Gas mileage is important to me, but i don't want it to be the deciding factor. I want to get a car that fits my life-style and that i will like. I gravitate more towards trucks and SUVs so i'm willing to pay more for gas as long as it's not a huge diffrence.
These are the cars that i have in mind, tell me which is better and gets better gas mileage.
96-97 Jeep grand cherokee
96 Toyota 4runner
95 Toyota Pick-up (with large wheels)
I also want to know what SUV gets the best gas ,mileage
Thanks for being patient with me and answering all my questions about cars...i know you guys are probably getting sick of me...but i really need your advice and help cus i don't know anything about this.Out of all the SUVs which gets the best gas mileage?
Foprd Escape Hybrid!
Probably the Toyata Truck. Less weight. SUV- Toyota Hybrid.Out of all the SUVs which gets the best gas mileage?
wow
why do you want suv?
toyota trucks last forever as long as you
get the 22re motor!
Toyota will have the better mileage, but not the best. You are looking at 10 yo car with at least 100K miles. It will have problems for sure. Why do you want to get used SUV knowing up front that it will have problems? If you want to save on gas, buy Ford Escape Hybrid - it is the best SUV that is a gas saver.
Good luck!Out of all the SUVs which gets the best gas mileage?
do not get a jeep grand cherokee....i have the exact year that you are talking about and i get 10 mpg city and 15 hwy.....needless to say it is sitting in the driveway and i am driving my hubbys toyota pickup.....toyota's get good gas mileage but honda's are always the best......good luck
Just go to the websites and look it up.
You could also go to edmunds if you don't want to go to the Toyota and Jeep website.
The SUV with the best gas-only mileage is the Toyota RAV4, which gets 24 mpg city and 30 highway. The cars you mentioned will vary depending on engine size, but the best-case scenario for each (4-cylinder engine, 2-wheel drive) is 22/25 for a '95 Tacoma, 20/24 for the '96 4-Runner, and 15/21 for the '96 Grand Cherokee. There are a couple of SUV hybrids 鈥?a Highlander from Toyota with 33 city, 28 highway; the Escape from Ford with 36 city, 31 highway.
But, if I may be so bold, might I recommend a couple of spunky little 5-door hatchbacks which, in my view, offer just as much cargo flexibility as the largest SUVs: the Honda Fit and Scion xA, which get 31 city and 38 highway. The Scion xB is a little larger and also does well with 30 mpg city and 34 highway. I also forgot to mention the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix, which gets 28 city and 34 highway. It's closer to full size, so it just might be what you're looking for. Good luck!

What is the best way to get the optimum gas mileage on a roadtrip?
I am driving around 3,000 miles on a road trip from Texas, through New Mexico and Arizona to Nevada. Are there any gas saving tips? I know it's mostly highway mileage, but anything I can do to make my fuel use more efficient? What is the best way to get the optimum gas mileage on a roadtrip?
Well with the winds that are blowing in this area right now. You might want to put a sail on it.
Change your cars oil before starting the trip, have the front end aligned and tires aired up, then keep at a constant speed, if possible, by setting the cruise control and leave it. If your air filter has not been changed lately, have it changed at the same time the oil is changed, and after all that, just have a good time! What is the best way to get the optimum gas mileage on a roadtrip?
You could draft, but that's usually frowned upon. Keep your windows up and AC on - rolling the windows down creates drag which robs fuel mileage. Maintain a consistent speed. Don't accelerate rapidly. Avoid stop %26amp; go traffic. Don't go much over 70. 55 is thought to be the most economical speed. Be prepared for a lot of fingers though.
Make sure your car has a tune up before you leave %26amp; drive the speed limit. What is the best way to get the optimum gas mileage on a roadtrip?
keep the car as light as possible. inflate tires to maximum pressure because you loose mpg with under inflated tires. keep windows up, less air drag. get a fresh oil change of proper viscosity because old oil actually has viscosity breakdown and cause the engine to work harder.
change the oil, new air filter, new plugs if you havent done that in a while. depending on what size engine you have, small 4 cyl. get better mileage at lower speeds and V-8's tend to get better mileage the faster you go up to a certain point. its all about keeping your engine in its torque range. you'll get good mileage as long as you dont have your foot down.
EX. my intrepid had a 3.2 V-6 and it would get almost 30 mpg at around 65-75 mph.
Make sure the car is in tip-top condition. Change the sparkplus, air filter, and be certain that the air pressure in your tires is correct and sufficient.
While driving, maintain an even speed (use cruise control, if your car is so equipped), avoid traffic jams and keep your speed at the limit. Try to avoid putting anything on top of or behind the car (which will provide better aerodynamics) (no sli-racks, bicycle rack, trailer, or roof rack). Try to keep the windows rolled up (use air conditioning, set at recycle rather than drawing in fresh air), and coast while going downhill, since that's the way the Shell Oil Mileage people attain maximum mileage.
Have a good and safe road trip!
First, change you oil and air filter - your spark plugs should be fine, unless they're due to be changed.
Make sure your tyres are at the vehicle manufacturer's recommended pressure - not the max pressure listed on the tyre (the correct pressure is found on a sticker, usually in the driver's side door jamb, but it could be in any door jamb, under the hood, or even on the underneath of the trunk lid. And make sure your spare is pumped up, too.) If you're planning to do a lot of expressway driving, give them an extra 2 lb of pressure - no more. Any higher than this will reduce gas usage, but will wear the tyres out MUCH faster - they could be bald before the trip is over. Saving $20 on gas isn't worth the $400+ usually needed to buy new tyres.
Keep your windows up and use the A/C, since it uses less power than the drag caused by open windows - unless driving less than 35 mph, when the drag of open windows is usually lower than the fuel used by the A/C.
Use your cruise control, and read the road ahead. If you see a slower vehicle ahead, find a gap in the traffic and change lanes in advance so you don't have to slow down. Don't wait until you catch up to them and have to slow down aned then accelerate back up to speed again. The less you touch the brakes, the more gas you save. If you don't have cruise, keep your right foot smooth and gentle. Don't accelerate suddenly or brake quickly if you can avoid it.
If your car is stick shift, keep it in 5th whenever you can. Cars use less gas in top gear - even when your foot is on the floor! - than in a lower gear with less throttle.
Keep your speed around 65 to 70 on the expressway - most cars are quite efficient at these speeds, and driving too slow can be as dangerous as driving too fast. (I once drove 780 miles, at 70 and 85 mph (occasionally getting to 100 for fun!) in a Ford Focus, and still averaged 35 mpg for the trip.

How do you drive a V8 to get good gas mileage?
Well, it's pretty much been said already, just wanted to know the tips and tricks to getting good gas mileage in a V8.How do you drive a V8 to get good gas mileage?
Tuned headers, true dual exhaust, no cat-converter, minimul mufflers, port and polish intake maifold and head, port the heads for bigger valves, port and polish the exhaust on the head, lighter pulleys...
then you can tear your engine apart and have the crank and rods balanced, micro polish the crank, and a light weight flywheel, MSD ignition, advanced timeing, taller narrow tires, eletric fuel pump, remove power steering, higher geared rear end, standard transmittion (gets better gasmilage than an automatic)... I can go on and onHow do you drive a V8 to get good gas mileage?
Use reagular gas NOT ethonal!
Any stop, (red light for more than 30 sec - some take 60 or 75 sec), drive-up ATM shut the engine off.
No drive thru fast food.
No fast start outs.
Time traffic lights on regular routes to avoid red lights. How do you drive a V8 to get good gas mileage?
Sorry that does not exist. not in america at least.
slow and dont worry about itoil change

How does tire size change performance and gas mileage in vehicles?
I have a 1986 Toyota Pickup 4 WD and I currently have 265 75 16 tires on the truck. I need new tires and I've been told that I could get smaller tires that would help on gas mileage and handling. How much improvement would I see on both mileage and performance? How does tire size change performance and gas mileage in vehicles?
Shorter and fatter tires get worse mileage. Taller skinnier tires get better mileage. Go from there. How does tire size change performance and gas mileage in vehicles?
not enough to shake your boat/smaller tires cut gas mileage/more rpms to go the same distance/large tires give slight improvement but hardly noticeable because it takes more energy to get to speed/stick with what the recommend its on the divers door pillar or glove boxHow does tire size change performance and gas mileage in vehicles?
Actually, it's the other way around. Larger tires get better mileage for one simple reason: for every revolution a tire makes, a larger tire has a larger circumference and therefore goes further.
A shorter tire will hurt your highway mileage .You will see a mild improvement in acceleration and perhaps a small increase in city economy with the lighter/shorter tire .

How to increase gas mileage of a Ford Bronco?
I was thinking of getting a Ford Bronco seeing as my last car was just totaled. I love everything about the Bronco. I think they're awesome, and so does anybody I ask about them. They say they're reliable, and that they last a long time. The thing is, I know it gets horrible gas mileage. What mods can I do to make mileage better? I know exhaust systems increase mpg, and so do headers, especially because the Bronco's have very restrictive headers. What else can I do to increase the mileage? And is bad mileage as bad as people say it is?How to increase gas mileage of a Ford Bronco?
your best bet is HyperMiling, coast as much as possible..How to increase gas mileage of a Ford Bronco?
You will not believe me, but the most effective mod is a block of wood taped to the under side of the gas pedal. The way you drive has more effect than all those other mods. How to increase gas mileage of a Ford Bronco?

How bad is the gas mileage on a Jeep Commander Limited?
Thinking about purchasing a 2008 Jeep Comander Limited which has a V8 5.7L Hemi in it. I love the vehicle. My wife is worried about the gas mileage. I currently have a Dodge Dakota V8 4.7L and get about 14/15 miles to the gallon. I heard even though the Jeep has a bigger engine that is gets better mileage. Could this be true? How bad is the gas mileage on a Jeep Commander Limited?
The 2WD Commander with the Hemi gets 13/19mpg with an average of about 15mpg in regular driving.
The 4WD model is 13/17 with an average of 14mpg.How bad is the gas mileage on a Jeep Commander Limited?

How can I increse my gas mileage without loseing horsepower?
I have an 85 Toyota Supra with an inline six non-carberated (fuel injected). I have a K%26amp;N cold air intake. I keep my tires inflated to proper levels. And I only use full synthic oil that I change every 2000 miles. My gas mileage is still less than 20 mpg. Besides changing my driving habbits, what could I try?How can I increse my gas mileage without loseing horsepower?
The easiest ways to increases hp and gas mileage is to;
1.) Add a half-pint accetone (fingernail polish remover) to every three to five gallons of gasoline for 300 to 500 miles. Or have injectors professionally cleaned.
BE ADVISED accetone is corrosive to rubber parts and can result in fuel system failure. (i've never had a problem)
2.) Remove and clean back side of throttle plate, this goo significantly screws up the air flow at part throttle and destroys gas mileage and low speed response. Don't scratch it up or it will get dirty faster(carb. cleaner and toothbrush works). Replace gasket.
3.) Set idle/timing to factory spec. when FULLY warmed-up and be sure to run the factory recommended temp. thermostat only.
Do the above and you will notice a significant improvement in low-speed power and gas mileage!
Consider also running NGK V groove spark plugs and BP gasoline, a new O2 sensor might be in order also.
get a K%26amp;N Cold Air Intake!!! its increases ur mileage %26amp; horsepower!!!
why are you changing synthetic oil every 2000 miles??? fossil oil needs changed less often than that....
Buy Outlaw Octane Booster and try high octane gas just for on tank( unless you use it already)How can I increse my gas mileage without loseing horsepower?
I have found that when I fill up at the pump, the stop will come on on the pump. Waite a while and fill it up some more. You can probably get $5.00 more in it. I had a celica that I did that to and was getting at least 50 more miles on.
not much. there was an article in popular mechanics a few months ago about increasing mpg. they tested different types of gadgets and gizmos that you add to you car, and none of them increased gas mileage at all. some actually DECREASED mpgs. the only thing you can do is drive easier. sorry that is not what you want to hear, but it is the truth. I guess you could look into changing the gearing in the rearend, but that would be major money for any car, especially a 1985 model. save up and buy a Jetta diesel.
Help w/mileage? Car recently tuned up? Check tire pressure. Climb steep hills slowly in low gears.Drive w/o quick stops %26amp; starts.

in all honesty, you're wasting a little money on other things which you can just as well be spending on gas....the fully synthetic oil, good as it is, is considerably more expensive per oil change, and you'll have just as good of luck on a good name brand oil, at less than half the cost. A change of the other fluids helps from time to time-such as your transmission fluid and filter(automatic) and changing the oil to synthetic in your gear-box is a good idea, however...the improved viscosity there will help(but will be barely noticed). Keep your air filter clean, run some injector cleaner through on occasion, don't sit and idle your vehicle for very long if you don't have to(like to run the a/c or heaters to warm or cool your car before you drive), don't run the a/c or defrosters(since that also runs the a/c compressor) more than necessary, keep your battery charged up(a low battery will make your alternator work harder, which in turn makes the engine work harder, stealing horsepower, and sucking down gas) make sure your belt(s) are in good shape. Check and keep your power steering fluid up to par(if you have it)..Low fluid in your power steering pump will have the same effect as when you have a dead battery, it will make your power steering pump work harder, again, consuming more gas. Change your fuel filter on a regular basis. Buying higher octane gas won't make a pile of difference, I'd check my owners manual to see what the manufaturer recommends on octane before putting in more expensive gas-the whole idea is to save money, and if you get an extra mile or two per gallon on higher octane gas, but it costs you more, you're not really accomplishing much.
check tire pressure, dont carry heavy things in your car if you dont need to.
all good advice but also running synthetic lubricating oils engine trans rear is proven to reduce friction therefore results in increased mpg. Have heard slick 50 will help but don't have first hand experience.
Installed a vacuum gauge and stay around the economy zone. The gauge will tell you .the best way to handle the gas pedal.Your so call driving habits!!!
use the 89 octane or get a chip
Use brands that improve gas mileage and fuel injectile cleaners in the gas tank. Fuel injectile cleaners clean the valves, and carbuerator.by removing the sludge and buildup, increasing the jet flow for better performance.

What is the the approximate gas mileage of a 1976 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe?
Looking into buying one a little out of town, and was wanting to know what kind of gas mileage this thing gets. What is the the approximate gas mileage of a 1976 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe?
The 76 was still a pretty big heavy car with a 3 speed auto, no locking torque converter, no overdrive, no EFI. Its also right in the time frame where the performance loss from emissions stuff was at its peak. 77 was when GM made some serious cuts in weight. If everything is working properly and in good shape I would expect that car cruise in the low teens (MPG). I have a 75 caddy that is a little bigger than that and it does 13-14 on the highway and about 11 around town if I drive nice. One trip it did 18 but that was flat ground 55 mph cruise on no wind. What is the the approximate gas mileage of a 1976 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe?
Its approximately 10-12 KMPL hopefully. This gas mileage may be obtained only when the 1976 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe model is in its better condition to drive on the roads of town. What is the the approximate gas mileage of a 1976 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe?

What is the best method to get the best possible gas mileage?
I am already getting really good gas mileage on my 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, but how do I get even better mileage? I am concerned about this because I have a far commute to make to work everyday. Please help!!!What is the best method to get the best possible gas mileage?
Tire pressure.. the firmer the tires the better your mpg.
Only use cruise control on flat terrain. If there is hills the cruise will cause many transmission shifts if its an automatic which will burn more gas.
If you have a manual keep it in the highest gear possible.
Avoid slowing down as much as possible. For example.. if someone in your lane is slowing down to turn and you can get into another lane do so. Accelerating from a stop burns tons of gas. What is the best method to get the best possible gas mileage?
I recommend having nitrogen put in your tires. It will stabilize the pressure and is not affected by temperature changes. Tire pressure is important for the best mileage. Also be sure to use your cruise control and don't take off hard from stop signs and red lights.

What modifications can i do to increase the gas mileage on my 1999 ford explorer?
I'm a teenager who has to pay for his own gas and i was wondering if there are any modifications i can invest in to my car to increase gas mileage and also get me a little more power. gas though is my number one priority. What modifications can i do to increase the gas mileage on my 1999 ford explorer?
inflate tire to the maximum, change driving habits, take off slow and drive with eyes 1000 feet up the road to anticipate stop lights and traffic, left off gas early, thats the key to better mileage.... did you know that when you are coasting at 30 mph you are getting 50 mpg, and at 60 it goes up to 100 mpg. What modifications can i do to increase the gas mileage on my 1999 ford explorer?
regular maintenance is the key..make sure that you are doing all your oil changes on time ..change the plugs..changing the air filter can help as well..over inflating tires is a double edged sword..the max psi on the side of the tire is for loading purposes..over inflating will wear the center of the tire out quicker..
reduced idling time can help out as well,,What modifications can i do to increase the gas mileage on my 1999 ford explorer?
First if you do mainly intown driving, inflate tires to 40PSI Do not fill them more than that. Then consider getting a cold air intake. Next consider a catback exhaust system (if you don't mind a rumble kind of exhaust) you may want to consider a 40series flowmaster exhaust. Next if you can afford it get a computer tuner. Get some good spark plugs and wires. Make sure you use 5W30 Synthetic Oil. If you can change your differential and transmission fluids all to Synthetic fluids. All those things will make a difference. Good Luck!

How could I improve the gas mileage on a 1999 Cherokee?
I have a 1999 jeep cherokee 4.0 inline 6 4x4 auto. What modifications could i make to improve the gas mileage? How could I improve the gas mileage on a 1999 Cherokee?
Well theres actually a few things you can do, first of all one of the best ways is to make way with the clutch fan with that of an electric fan.
Clean out the throttle body, Idles Control Valve, new filter, New distributor cap, The throttle tends to get alot of blowby oil and can cause poor airflow on the ICV whitch is bolted with 2 torx on I believe 96-01 cherokees and possibly older,
Getting a less restrictive air filter such as a K%26amp;N seems to help quite a bit.
All and all the the increase should be as follows
Electric Fan Conversion 5-10%
ICV valve clean 1-3%
More free Flowing Filter 3-5%
New Rotor Cap 2-3%
Overall its reasonable to expect a 2-4 MPG increase from all these procedures adding more power and torque to the equasion, Other then that its a jeep bud the 4.0 are what they are with not alot of aftermarket support in the performance category making price to performance gains pretty unreasonable.
get it converted to run on vegetable oil.How could I improve the gas mileage on a 1999 Cherokee?
Smaller tires and less weight Joe-cooleo.
None... yer best bet is to sell it and buy a 4 cyl.How could I improve the gas mileage on a 1999 Cherokee?
change the air filter, drive slower, use cruse control on highway
lol
My 1999 Cherokee get over 20 mpg. Low cost and free ways to get better mileage are to use a low restriction air filter, open the spark plug gap up to .055, and run the stock size tire 225/75-15.
Remove any air flow disruptions like roof racks and aftermarket bumpers. Make sure the factory air dam in in place and straight. Also make sure the factory cover over the bottom of the engine is in place as it helps smooth the air flow under the Jeep.

How can i get better gas mileage on a chevy small block?
I'm 14 and looking into buying a 67-69 camaro to restore with my father. I want to get a 350 small block for this car but i also want good gas mileage or at least the best i can get it. So can someone help? How can i get better gas mileage on a chevy small block?
194 heads
2 barrel carb
dont drive it
muscle cars are not known for mileage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I put a brand new GM 350 crate motor in my truck with an entire Edelbrock intake system and I still only get 10 miles to the gallon.
Best thing you can do is one stay off the pedal but some things you can add:
1. Less restrictive air cleaner and high flow filter (KnN)
2. Low temp thermostat (mine is 160 degrees) and new water pump to keep engine cooler (prevents gas from evaporating)
3. Spend a little more and get higher power spark plugs and plug wires
4. Headers and high flow mufflers
5. Carb spacers (Increasing the distance between the carb and the intake gives the fuel more time to mix which makes it burn better)How can i get better gas mileage on a chevy small block?
Buy your Camaro, leave it all stock ,look after it, clean it ,keep it tune correctly,
dont worry about the gaz, just use it when you need to, and if you sell it in a few years
buy keeping it all stock you will make a big gain on it , please dont do what those others guys say
believe me.
put in a crate motor, fuel injected if you can afford the upgrade, a 600 carb if not, and dont push the pedal to the floor.. you should get about 16-19 city, 21-23 highway. thats pretty damn good for a V8. also make sure its not geared to low and if you go with an automatic trans, get a 4sp auto/ overdriveHow can i get better gas mileage on a chevy small block?
modern 5 speed / 6 speed transmission swap.

Older cars get terrible gas mileage due to the overall weight- no matter how much you fine tune the engine. Good on you for considering restoring a classic!
Keep a mild cam in it, and put a decent 700r4 in it. Keep 308's in the rear too.
LOL
trade it to a 4 cylinder
Spot I have to 110% dis agree with you. The weight is NOT a big prob with fuel mileage
Plus a 1st gen F body don't weigh that much 3000-3300 lbs depending on options
The key to fuel mileage is building an engine with high Volumetric Efficiency. You get the VE up to 95% or higher and you will make great power but great fuel mileage too
Also the gear ratios plays the biggest part in mileage.
If your looking for street performance and good mileage use a 3.08 or 3.23 rear gear and a 4 speed auto or 5 or 6 speed man. transmission
A 700r4 or 200 4r auto or a T56 or TKO man. trans
put that with a 10:1 compression 355 with vortec or brodix IK180 heads, 220/230*@.050" cam, with 112 las, RPM air gap intake, 600-670 cfm carb
Tuned and dailed in right that combo should knock down 18 mpg city and 22/23 mpg highway and make 450 HP and run about 11.90's @ 113 mph in 1/4 mile if you have good traction

Is there a difference in gas mileage between standard cab trucks and king cab trucks?
Lets take the 2.3L Ford Ranger for example since it's known to get the best mileage out of any sized pickup in the US. If one truck was just a standard cab and the other was a king cab, would the king cab do worse on gas since there's more room in the cab? I mean, the extra space really wouldn't add any pull or weight to the engine, right? Is there a difference in gas mileage between standard cab trucks and king cab trucks?
For the Ranger, the EPA fuel economy rating stays the same.
In real driving the supercab will be a little worse than the standard cab with a 6ft bed.
Overall, the Supercab Ranger is a more than a foot longer than the standard cab. That extra metal adds about 400lbs and that will have some impact on economy. Is there a difference in gas mileage between standard cab trucks and king cab trucks?

Can anyone especulate why the difference in gas mileage among these three vehicles?
Isuzu rodeo 91-97 3.2 ENGINE SIZE
Curb Weight, lbs. 3545
V6 3.2
5-speed manual: 16/19
4-speed automatic: 15/18
Isuzu trooper 1990 2.6 ENGINGE SIZE
Curb Weight: 3755 lbs
Manual: 16 mpg / 18 mpg
Automatic: : 15 mpg / 18 mpg
Honda CR-V 2002 2.4 / 162 ENGINE SIZE
Curb Weight, lbs. 3318
5-speed manual: 21/25
4-speed automatic: 22/26
THANKS,Gas mileage?
In almost all cases, manual transmissions get better gas mileage.
But between the 3 vehicles you have listed there, I'd say it comes down to engine size and curb weight. Notice that the 02 CR-V has a 2.4L engine and is the lightest, and it gets better mileage. The smaller an engine is, the better the gas mileage.Gas mileage?

Would a higher grade gasoline give me better gas mileage?
I have a 96' Chevy s10 blazer and a 92' Chevy s10 pickup, both of which dont get the best gas mileage, but I use the blazer to drive 37 miles one way to work and would like to maximize my gas mileage in any way. I currently get about 18mpg.Would a higher grade gasoline give me better gas mileage?
Longer term a better brand of gas (whatever octane your car requires) should because the "Top Tier" gasolines (see link below) have more of the expensive additives that make a difference between the gasoline brands. I like Chevron with it's patented Techron additive which is in the same strength in all their gasolines.

No and it may damage your car.Would a higher grade gasoline give me better gas mileage?
No, just a bigger fuel bill. Most auto built in the past 10 years were designed to perform best on 87 octane fuel
Simple answer is no. All it will do is waste money to use over the octane needed for your engine.
To save on fuel, watch your speed, drive as if there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal, and don't break the egg. Look ahead to avoid having to brake early, and keep your tires inflated to the right pressure.
18 doesn't sound bad to me, I get around 9 with my 454 in my tow truck.Would a higher grade gasoline give me better gas mileage?
no,,,, all high octane gas does is keep away "ping" on high compression engines
Yes it would, and also changing your oil every 5000 KM or 3000 miles improves gas mileage big time.
Buy your gas at a branded station, which means 76,Chevron,Shell Etc. They have additives in their gas. Cheap gas stations have no additives, they all have the same octane, try a higher octane at one of the branded stations and see if you mileage goes up. Make sure your air filter is in good sharp and check your manuel to see when a tune-up is due. All these items will increase mileage
no it wont do anything to ure gas mileage it jus depends on ure compression ratio and ure sprak plugs wut grade u use u shouldnt use grade that isnt recommended by dealer
Yes. it's burns hotter therefore less fuel needed to go the same speed

How can you tell if a car is good on gas mileage?
Isn't there a way you can tell that a car is good on gas mileage before you drive it? Also, which types of SUV's do you recommend when it comes to being good on gas?How can you tell if a car is good on gas mileage?
tiny cars with puny engines are good on gas mileage.skinny tyres n slippery aero design also helps attain high mileage.
softroaders like Honda CR-V,Nissan X-trail,Hyundai SantaFe,Suzuki Grand Vitara,Jeep Liberty are more efficient than the big full size trucks.also most of these are now available with diesel motors, which are very cheap to run.(though diesels require high maintenance)
what the..... dude, man, ohh manHow can you tell if a car is good on gas mileage?
Safety first then worry about gas mileage.
Haha! You are a funny guy. Why are you picking on Americans? How can you tell if a car is good on gas mileage?
you can actually go on to the yahoo website and search for the car you are interested in purchasing and research the mpg and how many gallons does the gas tank holds. also go to http://www.consumersreport.org

How do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
In automatic drive it shifts at around 2500 rpm , i wanna try the "M" mode but i dont know when to shift for better gas mileage, city drivingHow do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
Generally speaking, car manufacturers tune the shift points in automatic transmissions for optimal efficiency / mileage. Switching to manual will invariably decrease your MPG. Why? Because you will shift late at higher rpm or lower making the engine work harder. Not saying you are a bad driver but the M setting is for performance or special circumstances or driving conditions where you don't want the transmission thinking for you. The best advice I can give is to pay attention to how you are driving, eliminate the quick starts, and maintain your car as recommended in the manual.
Keep your tires inflated, keep in the low RPMs in gears, such as the 1000s. Also supercharge your car if you can afford it and get a better exhaust upgrade. Keep intake restrictions low to the engine, and use high grade oil.How do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
Keep tires fully inflated.. 3 or 4 lbs about recommended... From all stops, slowly gain speed and eliminate the gunning from a stop position. Check air filter making sure to keep it clean.
put rice in it.How do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
Call a breakdown service %26amp; get them to tow you??
buy every gadget on the market (only to keep the economy going) then take the bus...at least you dident ask for a free down load, thats what ,most yahoos do,, ever think about tuning it up???
get a k%26amp;N air filter, that should increase your gas mileage by atgleast 2-4 miles per gallon, and switch to different oil, like full synthetic, for another 204 miles per gallon increase.
Push it

How can i get better gas mileage in my lifted truck?
I have a 2001 Ford F-150 with a 5in fabtech lift kit and a set of 35in set of all terrian tires with a 5.4l v8 under the hood. I need to improve my gas mileage right now im getting about 10mpg. What are some things that i can do to improve that
ThanksHow can i get better gas mileage in my lifted truck?
Honestly you gave your mileage for the mod. A 5.4L just doesn't have the guts for 35" tall tires. You can do the normal stuff like better air filter and better exhaust but the reality of the situation is something that big needs that much fuel to move. If you can improve it at all it will be nominal only a mile or two. I would recommend next time getting a diesel. They have the guts for it.
smaller tires and take the lift out......
but over inflating ur tires a little will get u btr mileage(will cas tires to wear faster tho)
doing a tune-up and changing the fluids (oil diff lube greasing joints) will help some....
putting air intake and free-flow exhaust will help ......
can get the computer programmed at a shop to help a lot....
keep ur foot off the skinny pedal as much as possible....How can i get better gas mileage in my lifted truck?
Don't drive it. Or.....
Lower the truck back to OEM spec's and use the proper sized tires and drop the rear of the bed about 2-4" or just take the tailgate off to reduce drag.
Good Luck!!
new spark plugs, bigger throttle body spacer, k%26amp;n cold air intake, performance chip, exhaust, changing oil every 2,000 miles, bed coverHow can i get better gas mileage in my lifted truck?
I'm surprised you are getting 10mpg with those tires. The only thing you can do is put the stock tires back on. Then you will get about 15mpg. Other than that drive like your grandpa.
